Bangkok Buses - Bangkok Bus Routes
The Bangkok bus network is pretty efficient and very economical.

There are usually two types of bus that service each route, 'ordinary' and air-conditioned, one is virtually half the ticket price of the other - Guess? The buses are generally quite clean and if the driver closes the doors on an air-conditioned Bangkok bus, cool too. The seats were designed for smallish, slim-ish, dare I say Thai people, and a big western bottom does tend to fill the seat!
A Bangkok bus is a great way of seeing the city though, with numbered buses plying specific routes, just as they would in any other modern city. The only problem we found is that very few of the buses have any other language than Thai on their destination boards. Until we found ourselves a Bangkok bus time table we were all at sea.
Fares can be as low as 5 THB and rarely exceed 20 THB for long distances within the city!
Airport buses service several destinations within the city for fixed fees of around 100 THB.
If you are stopping in the Khaosan Road area for instance you can get to the weekend market at Chatuchak in the north of Bangkok for about 20 THB! A/C Bangkok bus #524
It does help if you know where you are going but some Bangkok bus conductors do understand English (to a degree) and will let you know where to get off if you ask them.
