Buddha: " Whenever you see things, just see. Whenever you listen, just listen. Whenever you know, just know."Thailand - Central Region - Ang Thong ProvinceAng Thong Province is bang in the middle of the central region but is little known by tourists and visitors. It has borders with the provinces of Ayutthaya, Lop Buri, Sing Buri, and Suphan Buri. Ang Thong is rice farming area on a flood plain crossed by the Chao Phraya, Noi rivers and khlong's (canals). Mainly agricultural land it is devoid of forests and mountains. Previously Ang Thong town was known as Wiset Chai Chan - on the Noi river. The town was a strategically important border town of the Ayutthaya kingdom during the 16th century wars with Burma. Then during the reign of king Taksin, after the fall of Ayutthaya, the main city of the province was moved to the Chao Phraya river, and re-named Ang Thong. Today the provincial crest shows some ripe ears of rice in a bowl of water. This is symbolic of province as one of Thailand's major producers of rice.
