Thailand - Central Region - Ayutthaya Province
Ayutthaya province is in the south central area of the central region - About 75 km north of Bangkok above Nonthaburi and Pathum Thani provinces.
Ayutthaya province is subdivided into 16 Amphoe (districts) 209 Tambon (sub-districts) and 1328 Mubaan (villages). There are two Amphoe which have the same English sounding name, however this is only because the different Thai pronunciation and thus different spelling . Unfortunately the Thai inflection gets lost in romanization.
Full name Phra Nakhon Si Ayutthaya:
Phra Nakhon Si Ayutthaya (1) Is the main (capital) district that also houses the UNESCO World Heritage Site of Ayutthaya.
