Buddha: " Whenever you see things, just see. Whenever you listen, just listen. Whenever you know, just know."
Wat Phra Sri Attanamahathat, Lopburi

Lopburi is the capital city of Lopburi Province in Thailand. It is located
about 150 km north-east of Bangkok. The city has a long history, dating back
into the Dvaravati period more than 1000 years ago, when it was known as Lavo.
When the Khmer empire incorporated it, they destroyed all former buildings, so
that the oldest ruins that can now be found in Lopburi are Khmer temples.
Wat Phra Sri Attanamahathat is a large deserted temple. The temple covers
an area of around 20 Rais / 8 Acres / 3.2Ha. It is situated opposite the rear
entrance of Lopburi Railway Station.
The layout of the Phra Sri Attanamahathat temple consists of a large
Prang at the centre of the complex, functioning as the principal part. Other
buildings and Chedis surround the main Prang. According to the layout pattern
of its architecture and sculptures existing in the temple, it is assumed by historians
that the site was originally developed in the 13th century, with several renovations
taking place up until the late Ayutthaya period.

The construction within the
temple complex can be divided clearly into two main groups; those built before
the reign of King Narai the Great, and those built during his reign. The first
group consists of the main Prang, the small Prang, minor Chedis and the Prang
outside the boundary of the outer galleries. The second group consists of the
Viharn (9 rooms), Chedis between the inner galleries and the outer galleries
and Singha based Chedis.
The site has been a protected area since 1936
