Chao Pho-Chao Mae Pak Nam Pho Procession:
This is a Chinese New Year festival celebrated by Thai's of ethnic
Chinese descent. The festival has been an annual event in Nakhon Sawan since
the early 1900's - It is held on the 4th waxing day of the 1st Chinese
lunar month (end of January or early February). The celebrations are to ensure
good fortune. The festival features a number of highly colourful and
very noisy processions including traditional Cantonese angel procession,
dragon parade, lion parade, the goddess Kuan Im procession, and a Taychew
musical parade on the main thoroughfares of Nakhon Sawan, The procession
is followed by a hundreds of young women dressed in their finery.
