- Nakhon Sawan province and Nakhon Sawan city
Nakhon Sawan city is situated on the banks of the Chao Phraya River
at point of confluence of two of Thailand's major rivers, the Ping
and the Nan in central Thailand. The name Nakhon Sawan literally means "Heavenly
City". The province has a total area of about 9,600 square kilometres
and the provincial capital is about 240 km from Bangkok. Nakhon Sawan
province shares borders with the provinces of Chai Nat, Kamphaeng Phet,
Lop Buri, Phetchabun, Phichit, Sing Buri, Tak and Uthai Thani.
Because of its strategic location on the Chao Phraya River - the Chao
Phraya flows south to Bangkok and out into the Gulf of Thailand, Nakhon
Sawan has been a major inland trading port and is still an important
rice trading centre.
Nakhon Sawan province is divided into 13 Districts called Amphoe and
2 Sub-districts called King Amphoe:
