Thailand - Central Region - Phetchaburi Province
Phetchaburi Province is south west of Bangkok by about 125 km, is a costal provincial area with many great beaches, religious, historical and natural attractions.
Cha Am: Cha Am is the premiere beach resort of Phetchaburi province, about 40 km south of Phetchaburi town.
Huai Sai Wildlife Breeding Centre: About 15 km from Cha Am a private zoo - open to the public. Wildlife conservation and breeding projects.
Hup Kraphong: A village 'Rural Development Project initiated by the present monarch King Bhumibol Adulyadej (Rama IX) in 1962. The crafts, folk art and produce are all made from hemp.
Kaeng Krachan National Park: The largest national park in Thailand. Great for mountain trekking - especially around Pa La-U river and Thothip waterfall. There is birdwatching and boating on Kaeng Krachanm Reservoir.
Khao Luang: King Chulalongkorn (Rama V) 1868 - 1910 dedicated a cave here in Khao Luang to the former Chakri Kings. The cave contains Buddha images.
Maruekkha-thayawan Palace: South of Cha Am, the summer palace of King Rama VI. A two storey comples of wooden buildings. Open to the public.
Phetchaburi River: White water rafting on this long and winding river.
Phra Nakhon Khiri Historical Park: A palace built by King Mongkut (Rama IV) 1851 - 1868 at the top of Khao Wang - 'Palace Hill'. An interesting mix of western and traditional Thai architectural styles.
