Review of Chiangmai Gate Hotel, Chiang Mai

We stayed at the 3 star, Chiangmai Gate Hotel, Suriyawong Road, Chiang Mai for a month over Christmas and New Year 2007 - 08 and found a very nice clean hotel with all the comforts you require and those that you would expect in more expensive hotels.
With an excellent European and Thai style buffet breakfast available at a small extra cost. Including Fruit juice, Toast, Eggs, Bacon, Ham, Sausage, Pancakes and Thai dishes. Tea and Coffee, Salad Bar and Fresh Fruit.
Apart from providing us with a clean and comfortable air-conditioned room, comfortably equipped with ensuite wc, shower over bath and cable T.V with a few English language programmes, mini bar refrigerator, telephone, balcony etc. There was fresh linen and towels daily together with complimentary drinking water.
Hotel Facilities included: an unheated swimming pool with sun patio, Palm Tree Restaurant with alfresco dining area, free wireless internet connection from the reception lounge area and 3 pay-as-you-go computer internet terminals. Daily English language newspapers.
We suggest that whether you are on holiday, long stay or a business trip, you might like to think of Chiangmai Gate as your first choice in Chiang Mai as we believe you will experience the same friendly and warm welcoming atmosphere, guest care and plenty of genuine smiles without it breaking the bank!
Chiangmai Gate Hotel is a nicely decorated hotel, with traditional Lanna, northern Thai, style throughout the Chiangmai Gate wing with its Superior rooms, Standard rooms and Deluxe rooms. A total of 124 rooms in all.
The Chiang Mai Gate Hotel is centrally located close to the ancient Chiang Mai Gate of the old walled and moated city. 10 minutes walk to / from Wat Phra Dhatu Chedi Luang. Quiet enough not to be disturbed by the city traffic but close enough to feel like you are close to the heart of the city.
We found the hotel to be about 15 to 20 minutes walk to historic Tha Pae Gate area, weekend 'Walking Street' Markets and many old temples and only 10 minutes taxi or Tuk Tuk ride to the Chiang Mai International Airport and famous Chiang Mai Night Bazaar. 15 minutes from the railway station.
