Thailand - The East Area of Thailand
Pattaya in Chon Buri Province is one of the best known places in the eastern area of Thailand by foreign travellers. It is known as 'the' recreation centre of the east coast. Renowned for its fine sandy beaches, warm sea and perfect weather, making it irresistible to Thai travellers as well as the international pleasure seeker.
Chachoengsao Province on the western edge of the eastern area is little known by tourists and visitors.
Chanthaburi; The gemstone province with a border on Cambodia and a coastline on the Gulf of Thailand is another well visited province, about 250 km from Bangkok.
Chon Buri Province is less than 85 km from Bangkok has a few interesting areas besides Pattaya: like the Chao Mae Sam Muk Shrine at Khao Sam Muk and Bang Saen, the nearest proper beach resort to Bangkok. Koh Sichang a tropical paradise island is also part of this province.
Prachin Buri Province is now well known amongst white water canoeists and rafters at the Hin Phoeng Rapids in the Khao Yai National Park. But is little known by other tourists and visitors.
Rayong Province is the home of another well visited island: Koh Samet, becoming more popular with foreign travellers.
Sa Kaeo Province north easter edge of the eastern area is little known by tourists and visitors.
Trat Province is the furthest flung province away from Bangkok in the eastern area that is. With a border to Cambodia and the Gulf of Thailand. At a rough distance of 300 km from the capital. Well known for the Ko Chang Marine National Park, around the Chang island group.
