Whenever you know, just know."Metal Castle, Loha Prasart, Wat Ratchanaddaram Worawihan.Wat Ratchanaddaram Worawihan, close to the Golden Mount, the Metal Castle, Loha Prasart, is the other side of the Klong (Khlong) Ong Ang in the Rattanakosin District of Bangkok.
We visited Loha Prasart, Wat Ratchanaddaram Worawihan in November 2007, and other than the unusual architecture has little else to offer as a tourist attraction destination. This was part of a self planned walking tour that included viewing : The Golden Mount, Wat Saket, King Prajadhipok Museum, Mahakan Fort, Loha Prasart, The Democracy Monument, City Hall, The Giant Swing, The Ministry of Defence, City Pillar Shrine. |

Reminiscent of the exterior of a 'European' style fairytale castle, Wat Ratchanaddaram Worawihan is free to enter when open and is the only metal roofed Buddhist temple remaining in the world. Colloquially known as Loha Prasart, Metal Castle. Loha means metal in Thai. The roof is in the Thai style with the central roof point at 36m above ground level and a total of 37 spires in all, 37 being the number of chapters of Dharma in Buddhism.
The upper stories are reached by way of a spiral staircase and the whole building is surrounded by cloisters.
