- Maesa Elephant Camp
Maesa Elephant Camp was founded in 1976 to cater for
the needs of the five original captive elephants. Now one of the most
popular tourist attractions in Chiang Mai province, if not the whole
of Thailand.

There are now over 70 elephants housed at the Maesa
Elephant Training Camp.




Maesa Elephant Camp welcomed a new male baby elephant
- pictured above and below - on 26th September 2005. The mother is 'Sao'
a 24-year-old elephant.

The un-named baby, pictured above, a male with a birth
weight was 80 kg, was born at 0210 hrs of the 26th September after
a 21-month pregnancy - The result of a natural mating with the new
elephant's father the 30-year-old 'Jumbo B' in December 2003.
