The South Area of Thailand.

Most people who have ever opened a travel brochure have heard of Phuket the largest Thai island in the south region of Thailand on the Andaman Sea coast. Phuket is just about half way up the south area of Thailand. Others are looking for that island paradise - Koh Samui is that paradise.

The other provinces in the south region are:

Chumphon province is an area little known by tourists and visitors.

Krabi province is about 800km from Bangkok and a haven for divers who explore the Phi Phi, Lanta and Hong Island Groups. Rai Le Beach is gaining popularity with rock climbers.

Nakhon Si Thammarat province is well known for the Hat Khanom-Mu Koh Thaletai National Park and the Talumpuk Cape.

Narathiwat province shares a border with Malaysia.

Pattani province is an area little known by tourists and visitors.

Phang-nga province about 790 km from Bangkok adjoins Phuket and has a number of great beaches and wonderful limestone caves.

Phatthalung province is an area little known by tourists and visitors.

Phuket an island province that has become one of the worlds playgrounds and can become a bit crowded in high season.

Prachuap Khri Khan province The most northerly of the southern provinces. Prachuap Kiri Khan province has land borders with Phetchaburi province to the north and Chumphon province to the south, plus a western border with Myanmar (Burma). On the eastern side Prachuap Kiri Khan province has the longest coastline of any of the Thai provinces.

Ranong province the wettest province with the compensating fact the state has many hot springs.

Satun province is an area little known by tourists and visitors.

Songkhla province is an area little known by tourists and visitors.

Surat Thani province on the rim of the Gulf of Thailand - The mainland province that is the parent province of a hundred or more other small islands that includes Koh Samui.

Tarutao province is an area little known by tourists and visitors.

Trang province: If you are looking for new adventure try the Chao Mai National Park or the Morakot Cave on Koh Muk.

Yala province shares a border with Malaysia and has the point furthest south just ahead of Narathiwat State.
