The countries reputation for being backpacker friendly is renowned but there is adventure, heritage and cultural attractions of high quality for those of you with a bigger budget. We went to Thailand initially on a three centre, tailored 'holiday', with four nights in Bangkok, four nights in Chang Mai and five nights on Koh Samui. Great for getting a taster of Thailand, prefect for seeing a bit of everything! We decided it really isn't worth trying to see the whole of Thailand in two weeks, and we would recommend at least a month if you want to experience the country as a whole without wearing yourself out!
Chang Mai, Chang Rai and the Northern provinces are the 'real' Thailand where adventure of the highest order awaits you, especially if you are more interested in nature, local culture and sights and want to elephant trek in the Thai rain forests.
Be warned! Once you have been to Thailand you will want to go back! Our two week adventure has given us the taster. Enough for us to return for two consecutive three month trips during the winter of 2007/08. Graham & Jean Beven, |

Even if you just based yourself in Bangkok, you would be in for an adventure there as there is plenty to see and do within the capital's boundaries. With the opportunity to take sightseeing and cultural day trips into the hinterland. You don't have to go far for an adventure here. We believe here is enough to see ad do to merit spending at least two months just in and around Bangkok! 
Take time out to 'chill' around the Thai coast or stay on one, or more, of the tropical paradise islands. If beaches are your bag then Thailand probably has the best of them, from stretches of deserted white sand beaches, to well established tourist resorts, there is something for everyone. With the added attraction of water sports or marine experiences.
