Thailand - Why Thailand? - Something for Everyone
Did you know that every year half a million people travel halfway round
the world to holiday in Thailand from Britain alone?
Many of those travelling have been to Thailand several times before. So
what draws them back?
Some of the attractions are fairly obvious.
Initially: The beaches - soft
white sand (mostly) lapped by clear turquoise waters, teeming with
amazing marine life. All this with a backdrop of swaying coconut palms and
sometimes dramatic cliffs too.
Secondly:
The villages, towns and cities with their colourful monasteries and
temples, bustling - day and night markets, fantastically cheap food-stalls
each with their own speciality - And then of course the shops.
Thirdly: The countryside covered with rich agricultural vistas,
lush rainforests, hills and mountains - prime trekking terrain, with
the occasional hill-tribe, elephant ride or rafting.
Fourthly: The Thai people
- smiling, helpful, unflappable and easy going.
And of course the
food! Everything from exotic fruits to the freshest and vast varieties
of fish - All of this combined makes Thailand a something-for-everyone
paradise.
Yes
there is the fact that it can be hot and humid in dry season and wet
in monsoon season and some coastal areas have been dominated by mass
tourism - with resorts, boozy bars and the inimitable sexy
shows. All that said - if you choose YOUR holiday though - It can
be the holiday of a lifetime.
